This is great! I already have my to do list on post it notes, but I love the idea of these 3 diff groupings. I also love the idea of tackling the big tasks with just 15 mins a day. Thanks Louise!!!

I like Louise are often tormented by my to-do list. Mine is usually held in my head unless I am working on a very specific thing like organising an event when I have to write it all down.

I remember the magic I discovered when I learnt how to let some things go. When I start with my list mental or otherwise, there is always everything on it. then as deadlines get closer, sometimes you just have to cull, you just have to say nope I am not doing that anymore it is not important, if it doesn't happen nothing drastic will go wrong. And what a wonderful weight is lifted. when you just keep things on the list and you dont get them done - it is like you failed, but when you consciously cull them and decide NOT to do them it is like a feeling of achievement of empowerment.

A recent case in point was our wedding reception. I have full intentions of writing thank you cards for all the gifts. But after i had managed to get through the mammoth organizing of the event and get through the day itself, all I wanted to do was rest and not think about wedding plans. So days went by and i still had this nagging item of thank you cards, then days turned into a week then two and i was feeling more and more stressed about not having done my thank you cards. Then one morning I woke up and said "nope I am not going to do them". I facebooked a post saying thank you to all for the lovely gifts and I really wanted to send you a card individually to say thank you but unfortunately it is not happening so please take this message as my sincere gratitude for the lovely gifts and wishes. Everyone was accepting of it (well no one has complained) and most people totally understood. The weight that lifted off my shoulders was incredible.

I am not a complete convert to the culling of the to-do list, it is so empowering and is almost the same satisfaction you get from crossing it of as done, your just crossing it off as "won't do"
