As an about-to-turn-40 woman who hasn’t married or had children and wonders at ever being able to afford a home in Auckland these days, who is surrounded by friends and family with that ‘whole package’, i’ve been wondering a lot lately about all that i’ve missed out on. Your article is a brilliant reminder that I’ve made choices along the way that have led me along different paths – living abroad, regular travel to visit far-flung friends and have exciting new experiences, a growing career, and really very little stress in my life. That’s not too shabby and something that I need to be grateful for – i need to start wearing that black outfit proudly. Steph
